Technical Laboratory Coordinator - Biological Sciences

This is an on-site, temporary/casual position located on Tarleton's Fort Worth campus, with a maximum of 19 hours per week and no benefits. The role serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and oversees the daily operational activities of a laboratory.
  • Ensures adherence to lab standards and practices.
  • Oversees procurement of laboratory equipment and supplies, chemical storage, safety labeling, and inventory control.
  • Maintains inventory supplies and records.
  • Oversees the maintenance of laboratory facilities, equipment, and instrumentation; arranges for repairs.
  • Evaluates existing laboratory facilities and recommends improvements.
  • Develops and maintains standard operating procedures for the laboratory.
  • Develops procedures for the use of laboratory instrumentation.
  • Ensures proper storage, handling, and disposal of laboratory waste.
  • Assists in the development and update of instructional materials for teaching laboratories.
  • Assists in the development and testing of new experiments and curricula.
  • Supervises laboratory staff and students in the handling and preparation of laboratory materials.
  • Coordinates teaching assignments for laboratory sections.
  • May teach undergraduate lab courses.
  • May supervise assigned staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Three years of related experience in laboratory operations.

Skills

  • Knowledge of computers and mainframe environments.
  • Knowledge of standard laboratory equipment.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Pay

The target base hourly compensation is $19.04 per hour and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset.
