Technical Laboratory Coordinator - Biological Sciences
Tarleton State University, a distinguished Doctoral National Comprehensive University, invites applications for the position of Technical Laboratory Coordinator in the Department of Biological Sciences. This is an on-site, temporary/casual position located on Tarleton's Fort Worth campus, with a maximum of 19 hours per week and no benefits. The role serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and oversees the daily operational activities of a laboratory.
- Ensures adherence to lab standards and practices.
- Oversees procurement of laboratory equipment and supplies, chemical storage, safety labeling, and inventory control.
- Maintains inventory supplies and records.
- Oversees the maintenance of laboratory facilities, equipment, and instrumentation; arranges for repairs.
- Evaluates existing laboratory facilities and recommends improvements.
- Develops and maintains standard operating procedures for the laboratory.
- Develops procedures for the use of laboratory instrumentation.
- Ensures proper storage, handling, and disposal of laboratory waste.
- Assists in the development and update of instructional materials for teaching laboratories.
- Assists in the development and testing of new experiments and curricula.
- Supervises laboratory staff and students in the handling and preparation of laboratory materials.
- Coordinates teaching assignments for laboratory sections.
- May teach undergraduate lab courses.
- May supervise assigned staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Three years of related experience in laboratory operations.
Skills
- Knowledge of computers and mainframe environments.
- Knowledge of standard laboratory equipment.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Pay
The target base hourly compensation is $19.04 per hour and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset.
