Technical Laboratory Asst

About the Role

In this role, you will perform phlebotomy and a variety of technical and clerical functions in the Laboratory. You will handle blood, tissue, fecal matter, sputum, urine, spinal fluid, and other body fluids, which may be contaminated with infectious diseases including HIV and other bloodborne pathogens.

Responsibilities

• 70% Phlebotomy and/or specimen processing, depending on job location, with adherence to Safety and Infection Control practices.
• Provide customer service to clinicians, clients, patients, and their families, including professional telephone communication and service recovery when necessary.
• 15% Associated computer-related tasks (e.g., LIS, e-Source).
• 5% Training new employees and students.
• 5% Adherence to regulatory compliance, including National Patient Safety Goals, CAP, OSHA, JCAHO, CMS, OSH, and Laboratory Policies and Procedures.
• 5% Maintaining competencies and completing mandatory required education (ACE).
• Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned, with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency as part of a High Reliability Organization (HRO).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• Valid Driver’s License (Department of Motor Vehicles).
• 6 months to 1 year of experience in phlebotomy and/or specimen processing.
• Associates working in a skilled nursing facility setting must have an active driver’s license and carry personal auto insurance.

Schedule
