Technical Inside Sales
About the role
We are looking for a Technical Inside Sales Representative with technical aptitude and an interest in customer-facing work. This entry-level inside-sales position is designed to teach you our products, customer applications, and fluid-power certification. Our goal is to promote you to outside sales within 2–3 years, where you will manage your own territory of accounts and play a hands-on role in helping customers design fluid-power systems, hydraulic power units (HPUs), automation solutions, and serve as their in-house fluid-power expert.
Responsibilities
- Enter and manage orders, and communicate with purchasing, engineering, and management at assigned customers.
- Provide general customer service via phone and email, supporting order and delivery management.
- Promote and sell products and value-added solutions to new customers through incoming calls and email inquiries.
- Develop a high level of fluid-power and application knowledge by learning about products and vendors.
- Communicate with internal and vendor contacts to understand and respond to delivery needs.
- Partner with outside sales to manage large customers’ questions, orders, and deliveries.
- Learn effective cross-selling and upselling techniques for current customers.
- Uncover opportunities for outside sales from potential new customers and existing accounts.
- Support and participate in the organization’s continual-improvement program to conform to ISO 9001.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Distribution, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred; other technical certifications or degrees may be considered.
- Certified Fluid Power Hydraulic Specialist preferred.
- Experience as described below may be accepted in lieu of education.
- Recent college graduates encouraged to apply.
- Up to two years of experience in sales, customer service, or technical fields (internship experience a plus).
- Previous hands-on mechanical experience strongly preferred.
- Education as described above may be accepted in lieu of experience.
