Technical Infrastructure Program Manager I , Data Center Power Utilization Management & Planning (PUMP - SoapStone)

About the role

Reporting to the Data Center Delivery Business Operations Manager, you will have the opportunity to join a team that partners across the global AWS infrastructure organizations to shape the future of the AWS profile and tempo to which we deliver. The Data Center Delivery Business Operations team is seeking a highly-skilled & driven Technical Infrastructure Program Manager who will help drive the team toward our mission of building durable and reliable data informed processes within AWS Infrastructure. The ideal candidate has experience managing global infrastructure projects/programs; developing, monitoring, and reporting project/program health metrics; leading cross-functional teams; developing & implementing change management plans; training and mentoring performance; and driving process improvements.

Key job responsibilities

• Work with stakeholders to define requirements and processes
• Manage the dependencies and the interfaces between projects and/or project deliverables, and negotiate any needed trade-offs
• Provide program progress reporting on a regular basis
• End to end responsibility for the program's execution and success
• Manage multiple competing projects/programs simultaneously
• Run meetings, create and maintain timelines, and keep large, diverse groups informed of progress and obstacles
• Ensure consistency in deployed configurations and track exceptions for follow up
• Develop and implement scalable, data-driven process improvement/automated solutions
• Assist in daily operational tasks as part of the overall Data Center Delivery workflow

A day in the life

The Soapstone TIPM's responsibilities are split between Program or Project related initiatives to support additional scope or process improvement related to capacity delivery, as well as operational ticket-based tasks of creation and configuration of rack positions within the digital data hall inventory system.

About the team

Soapstone plays a critical role in the Data Center delivery workflow. By maintaining accurate server rack position data in the digital data hall inventory system, Soapstone ensures on time rack ordering to fulfill Data Center capacity needs.

Basic Qualifications

• 2+ years of technical program management experience
• Bachelor's degree in a discipline that requires problem-solving, typically Engineering, Physics, Finance, Business or equivalent professional experience
• Knowledge of MS-Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
• Experience with varying scenarios of infrastructure builds

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in data center, networking engineering, systems engineering or construction management with a good understanding of data center technologies such as power, cooling and controls systems
