Technical Field Advisor II, Generator Commissioning

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
• Follow Mitsubishi Power and site safety requirements while executing daily commissioning tasks for generators and auxiliary systems under the direction of the commissioning lead or senior engineer
• Support startup, operation, troubleshooting, inspection, installation, testing, and commissioning of large-frame gas and steam turbine generators and related auxiliary plant equipment
• Read and interpret machine process diagrams, function diagrams, electrical schematics, control logic, generator protection systems, and related documentation
• Perform or support standard electrical testing, including Hipot, Megger, DLRO, VLF, and power factor testing, and support commissioning of excitation, SFC, generator protection relays, and related systems
• Support mechanical flushing and commissioning of critical lube oil, seal oil, and hydrogen systems related to the generator
• Complete documentation, test certificates, drawings, reports, findings, non-conformance updates, and skills training logs for site turnover and commissioning leadership review
• Provide operator training before commercial operation; communicate effectively with staff and management while protecting confidential information and maintaining integrity

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred; an equivalent combination of education and directly related field experience will be considered
• Power generation experience required, preferably in industrial electrical, commissioning, startup, or directly related field environments
• Knowledge of large-frame generators and related systems, including transformers, ISO phase bus, GSU, seal oil, hydrogen cooling systems, generator mechanical systems, and excitation systems
• Knowledge of medium- and high-voltage equipment, electrical safety, NFPA 70E, NEC, NETA, IEEE, NESC, standard industrial electrical practices, generator protection relaying, calibration, electrical circuits, troubleshooting, instrumentation, and controls
• Strong analytical and engineering problem-solving skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, electronic mail and analytical tools
• English language proficiency required; Spanish, Portuguese, or Japanese language skills helpful
• Must be willing to travel up to 90% of the year to remote domestic and international work sites
• Able to meet physical job requirements including lifting up to 25–50 pounds, working at heights, in confined spaces, and in loud environments while following safety protocols
