Technical Field Advisor
About the role
The NAES Technical Field Advisor (TFA) role involves providing technical direction and advisory services for major maintenance, start-up, and major overhaul projects. This role requires the ability to provide professional guidance on critical measurements and acceptance criteria, as defined by OEMs or industry best practices.
Responsibilities
- Provide advisory services and technical direction for major maintenance, start-up, and commissioning projects.
- Plan, schedule, and estimate for assigned work or in support of sales opportunities.
- Complete status reports and technical reports (recording critical measurements).
- Participate in project planning and execution meetings.
- Awareness and adherence to NAES site safety program.
- Contribute to business development activities to enhance customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, or equivalent. An engineering degree is preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of relevant work experience. Experience with gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and specific OEM equipment (GE, Siemens, Westinghouse, Alstom) is preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: OSHA safety certifications, preferably OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certified.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, preferably Microsoft Project.

- Relevant work experience and technical competencies may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Pay
The initial annual compensation ranges from $178,900 to $205,750 based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
Work hours are dependent on project plans and may include weekend work, alternate shifts, and extended hours based on specific requirements. Ground and air travel is required for this position, with up to 50-60% travel being required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Essential physical mobility to navigate stairways, ladders, grating, and uneven terrain.
- Ability to see, hear, read, and react to warning signs, lights, and alarms.
- Essential ability to work safely at all times.
Fit for Duty
