Position Summary

The Technical Excellence Instructor- Electrical (Data Center) leads the Low Voltage installation pathway and front-line leadership development track, and provides lab support across QA and commissioning sessions. This person works side by side with the Lead Safety & Quality Instructor to keep both weekly cohorts moving, with particular ownership of LV termination quality and the leadership skills foremen and supervisors need to run safe, high-quality crews.

Responsibilities

• Co-lead Day 1 Foundation orientation for all participants alongside the Lead Safety & Quality Instructor.
• Lead Front-Line Leadership sessions for foremen and supervisors, covering human performance coaching, pre-task planning, crew communication, and Stop Work leadership.
• Lead Low Voltage Installation Excellence, covering equipment connections, cable management, torque verification, labeling, and common installation deficiencies.
• Provide QA lab support during QA/QC Inspection Excellence sessions, reinforcing inspection technique and deficiency recognition in small-group settings.
• Provide commissioning lab support during Commissioning & Energization Readiness sessions, supporting hands-on equipment inspection and documentation validation exercises.
• Run QA refresher and leadership coaching sessions during open afternoon blocks.
• Conduct practical instructor sign-off assessments for LV installation exercises and leadership scenario evaluations.
• Coordinate with the Lead Safety & Quality Instructor to keep both cohorts on schedule and to hand off participants cleanly between sessions.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on electrical construction experience, including low voltage installation and termination work.
• Current journeyman or master electrician license (Michigan, or reciprocal license transferable to Michigan).
• Prior experience as a foreman, lead, or crew supervisor, with direct experience coaching or developing other tradespeople.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 70E and general electrical safety practices.
• Comfortable teaching both classroom-style sessions and hands-on lab exercises in the same day.
• Strong communication and coaching skills, particularly around leadership development for foremen and supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience on hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center construction projects.
• Experience delivering leadership or supervisory training, formally or informally.
• OSHA 30 Construction certification.
• Formal train-the-trainer or adult learning certification.
• Experience with quality inspection processes, punch list management, or turnover documentation.

People Responsibilities

No supervision of team members. This is a highly collaborative role.

Physical Requirements

• Able to stand, walk, and demonstrate hands-on tasks for extended periods in a training lab or mock-up environment.
• Able to work on an active construction site, including required site-specific safety orientation and PPE use.
• Able to travel to the Ann Arbor area training site daily; this is an on-site, not remote, position.
