Technical Designer – Interiors – Mid-Level

About the Role

As a Gensler Technical Designer focusing on commercial interior environments, you will design and produce technical documentation, as well as communicate project progress to team members and clients to ensure success. This role is ideal for someone who is technically proficient, comfortable in client-facing settings, and enjoys working with a highly creative, collaborative team dedicated to innovative problem solving and design excellence.

Responsibilities

• Provide project team coordination for finished plans, specification, and material selections; ensure design intent is incorporated into the construction documentation.
• Produce accurate technical and contract documentation for construction of project.
• Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues, and maintain quality control during construction.
• Work directly with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, regulatory agencies, and clients to help meet overall project objectives.
• Utilize hand sketches and 3D software renderings to communicate design concepts.
• Interface with building and permitting officials during the permitting and construction phases of the project.
• Actively participate and contribute to the financial performance of project.
• Establish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Architecture or Interior Design, preferably with experience designing corporate interiors projects.
• 5+ years of professional experience with focus on Architecture or Interior Design.
• Licensed Architect or NCIDQ preferred.
• LEED accreditation encouraged.
• Knowledge of building codes, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, specifications, and construction techniques.
• Flexibility to focus on concurrent projects in various stages of development.
• Experience in construction document preparation and field observation.
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Highly proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and other 3D modeling software.

Pay

The base salary range is estimated between $75,000 - $90,000 plus bonuses and benefits, contingent on relevant experience.
