About the role

Gensler is a global design firm that creates places that inspire, perform, and endure. The Oakland office focuses on the Interiors practice, designing high-performing workplace environments, commercial office developments, repositioning projects, and sports-related destinations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform interior design assignments including interpreting client needs, space planning, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
  • Evaluate, select, and modify standard techniques and procedures in a substantial manner.
  • Select and present furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, and lighting.
  • Create 3D models, Revit, Sketchup, or other software, generate digital 3D views to communicate design concepts.
  • Create interior finishes and reflected ceiling plans, elevations, details, specifications, and material selections needed for construction.
  • Support and document design concepts during completion and execution.
  • Collaborate with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators.
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of design or architecture.
  • 5-10 years of design leadership of interior design and/or architecture projects; recent workplace, education and/or healthcare project experience is required.
  • LEED accreditation or WELL AP preferred.
  • Experience delivering highly sustainable design solutions.
  • Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in Revit and other computer design programs.
  • A portfolio of workplace, education, commercial or healthcare projects.
  • Ability to work full-time in the office (5 days a week).

Pay

The base salary will be estimated between $84,000 – $108,000. Gensler’s total compensation package includes a base salary, two annual bonuses paid in December and June, an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and profit sharing.

Schedule

This is not a remote role. The position is based in our Oakland, CA office.
