Technical Designer (Hybrid)

Location: Framingham, Massachusetts • Contract role • $35–42 per hour

Our client, a global retailer, is seeking a talented Technical Designer to lead fit, quality, and garment construction for their children’s apparel lines. Bring your passion for precision and pattern-making to a collaborative team where your eye for detail truly shines.

Responsibilities

• Based on a design concept, develop and communicate fit and specification requirements to vendors via a technical report with clear and accurate descriptions of construction, detailed sketches, specific measurements, and graded specifications.
• Work with agents and factories to ensure all garment specifications meet the company’s sizing and construction standards.
• Review all fit and production samples received from vendors for compliance with construction standards, fit, and sizing.
• Recommend changes to garments to ensure all shipments of merchandise meet specifications.
• Approve specifications for bulk production.
• Manage fit sessions utilizing Alva forms to assess garment specifications and execution.
• Meet with Product Development Team members on a consistent and timely basis to resolve problems or concerns promptly.
• Approve or reject fit and production samples.
• Make specification and construction changes on new garments.

Requirements

• Degree in Fashion Design or equivalent work experience.
• 3+ years of experience in spec’ing, fitting, and grading Misses, Men’s, or Children’s garments.
• Strong technical background and experience in grading and pattern-making.
• PC skills including Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and PLM.
• Broad-based knowledge of garment specifications, including clothing construction and grading.
• Knowledge of garment testing standards and protocols.
• Highly skilled in evaluation of garment fit.
