About the role
This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. The goal is to build sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
Responsibilities
- Preparing design layouts, creating detail part, assembly, and install models, and releasing data sets using CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.
- Applying relevant company (design, drafting, parts) techniques to plan, layout, and maintain data depicting engineering designs (detail, assembly and installation drawings or MBDs).
- Interfacing with other vehicle subsystem teams to create and place thermal hardware in the vehicle CAD model.
- Reviewing engineering drawing and designs to ensure alignment to established specifications and standards.
- Implementing engineering and manufacturing standard methodologies to achieve a balanced approach to cost, schedule and performance requirements.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design.
- 4+ years of experience in aerospace development or similar industry.
- Proficiency in model generation and release processes using Creo Parametric and Windchill.
- Proficiency in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
- Experience managing large CAD assemblies, BOMs, ICMs, and skeletons.
- Experience working with standard spacecraft thermal components (sensors, heaters, etc.).
- Experience working in a cross-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing the design to produce world-class engineered products.
- Excellent attention to detail and task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
- 7 years or greater proven experience.
- Experience with soft goods CAD modeling.
- Experience with multilayer insulation.
- Experience releasing engineering data sets using Model Based Definition.
- Experience designing for manufacturability.

Compensation range varies by location: CA applicants is $39.34 - $55.07 CO applicants is $36.06 - $50.48 WA applicants is $39.34 - $55.07 Other site ranges may differ.
