About the role
This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. The position will work directly on the Transfer Stage Vehicle within the Lunar Permanence Business Unit.
Responsibilities
- Preparing design layouts, creating detail part and assembly drawings/MBDs, and releasing data sets using CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.
- Reviewing engineering drawing and designs to ensure alignment to established specifications and standards.
- Serving as a liaison between engineering teams and supporting them in the development with mechanical layout and detail design and drawing for structural detail parts and assemblies.
- Applying relevant company (design, drafting, parts) techniques to plan, layout, and maintain data depicting engineering designs (detail, assembly and installation drawings or datasets).
- Implementing engineering and manufacturing standard methodologies to achieve a balanced approach to cost, schedule and performance requirements.
Requirements
- Achieved Associate degree in Computer Aided Drafting & Design.
- At least 4 years of experience in aerospace development or similar industry.
- Proficient in drawing generation and release processes using Creo Parametric and Windchill.
- Proficient in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
- Experienced in managing large CAD assemblies, BOMs, ICMs, and skeletons.
- Experienced in designing spacecraft primary structure, secondary structure, and component mounting hardware.
- Experienced in selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing the design to produce world-class engineered products.
- Excellent attention to detail and task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
- At least 7 years of proven experience.
- Experienced in releasing engineering data sets using Model Based Definition.
- Experienced in material selection, compatibility, and metallic manufacturing techniques & product forms (composites, sheet metal, machining, etc.).
- Experienced in designing for manufacturability.

Compensation range varies by location: CA applicants is $39.34 - $55.07 CO applicants is $36.06 - $50.48 WA applicants is $39.34 - $55.07 Other site ranges may differ.
