About the role

Company Production Engineering is seeking Technical Designers to support on-site in the Renton, Auburn, Puyallup, and Everett Washington sites. This Level 3 role applies fundamental drafting principles and design concept understanding to support real-time solutions to product and process issues in the fabrication flow.

Technical Designers create drafted parts and product structures to address operational and quality concerns, perform model definition changes based on engineering input, and translate engineers' conceptual ideas into physical part geometry and assembly definition. The role involves engaging in cross-functional, collaborative environments across the product lifecycle to support design change and improvement, with a career intent to progress into a technical designer job role.

Work may be on first, second, or third shift within a standard or alternate work week, including some weekend and/or daily overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Provides materials and process support to Company Commercial Airplane programs and systems design teams throughout the full lifecycle of the airplane, from design to production to fleet support.
  • Defines electrical, electronic, and electromechanical components used across Company products.
  • Reviews electrical component materials and process specifications and other engineering documents to control design, certify, and produce systems hardware.
  • Identifies impacts of non-conformances associated with electrical components and implements corrective/preventative actions for future avoidance.
  • Conducts engineering lab and failure analysis to determine the cause and corrective action of failed electrical components.
  • Leads evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application to future BCA products, enabling a competitive advantage.
  • Collaborates with multiple engineering teams (Design, Stress, Quality, Manufacturing, and Suppliers) to solve materials and process challenges throughout the full lifecycle of the airplane.
  • Produces requirements, specifications, and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes used to enhance the full lifecycle of Company products.

Requirements

  • Associate degree and typical experience in drafting classification (or a combination of education and experience).
  • Basic understanding and usage of computer-aided design (CAD).
  • Basic understanding of design product structure (details, parts, assemblies, installations).
  • Understanding of machining of metallic parts.
  • 3+ years of experience working with aerospace design, including experience with detail and assembly parts.
  • CATIA experience.
  • Integrated Visualization Tool (IVT) use and experience.

  • Multi-tasking skills.
  • Project management experience working with projects at various stages and coordinating with multiple organizations.
  • Prior Liaison Engineering experience.
  • AA degree in a related discipline and typically 3 or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
