Technical Business Analyst I or II
Location: Minneapolis, MN (hybrid)
About the role
Mortenson is seeking a Technical Business Analyst I or II to work directly with operating or business service groups, coordinating, planning, and implementing strategic initiatives to achieve company goals. This position manages one or more IT projects at a time, typically impacting one or two business functions. Opportunities are available at both levels I and II, allowing candidates to apply based on their experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for business analysis activities for initiatives and end-to-end business analysis for large enterprise initiatives.
- Handle business relationships with assigned counterparts in business and/or operating groups.
- Create business requirements and test plans for assigned initiatives.
- Partner with business and IT owners to assist with business case definition and project chartering.
- Proactively identify key issues and assist the project manager in mitigation and resolution.
- Partner with the project manager to transition new solution capabilities to the appropriate application owner and/or support team.
- Engage with cross-functional business teams to ensure access to subject matter experts (SMEs).
- Cultivate business relationships across the organization to promote the Portfolio Management capability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or other related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum four years of IT and business/industry work experience, with 3 years of business analysis (Technical Business Analyst I).
- Minimum of eight years IT and business/industry work experience, with at least five years of business analysis experience (Technical Business Analyst II).
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Process Modeling tools, creating flow charts and diagrams.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to clarify complex and ambiguous business needs.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to cultivate relationships and create a high-performing culture at all levels of the organization.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve issues and provide innovative solutions.
- Ability to balance conflicting priorities in high-pressure, high-stress situations.
Pay
Base pay range for Technical Business Analyst I: $69,900 - $104,900.
Base pay range for Technical Business Analyst II: $89,500 - $134,300. Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL (5%), Seattle, WA and Portland, OR (10%), Washington, D.C. (12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
