Technical Assistant
Location: Long Beach, CA | Department: Radiology Diagnostic | Status: Full Time | Shift: Days (8 hour shifts)
About the role
The Technical Assistant performs all support functions in the department, including transporting patients, clerical file room duties, and reception tasks under the general supervision of the Radiology Support Services Supervisor or lead technologist. The role may also involve assisting technical staff with direct patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform imaging procedures of diagnostically acceptable quality to fulfill department protocol guidelines.
- Working with Documents and Records:
- Files, retrieves, and processes radiology records/films.
- Demonstrates knowledge of clerical procedures.
- Retrieves films from storage facilities or locations.
- Understanding and Following Directions:
- Follows instructions from supervisors or lead technologist.
- Demonstrates ability to solve problems or troubleshoot equipment.
- Transports patients as needed.
- Adhering to Policies and Regulations:
- Observes scheduled work hours and meal breaks.
- Maintains and demonstrates compliance with hospital policies/procedures (attendance, dress codes).
- Attends in-services/department meetings.
- Demonstrates positive customer service skills.
- Adapting to Changing Conditions:
- Follows through and completes job assignments.
- Accepts changes in work methods and conditions.
- Works effectively under pressure.
- Exercises initiative and self-motivation to complete tasks.
- Operating and Maintaining Office Equipment:
- Keeps work area neat and clean.
- Demonstrates ability to use computer systems.
- Able to change printer ribbons/toner cartridges.
- Communicates and maintains proper relations personally and on the telephone with other departments, medical center staff, physicians, and patients’ families to ensure proper guest relations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 6+ months of experience in a Radiology department clerical section.
- Completion of a medical terminology class.
- Technical skills including basic keyboard operation for computers, operating O2 tanks, and operating patient beds.
- Ability to interact effectively with others and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
- Prepares, processes, and follows written procedures for the "Numerical Filing System."
Qualifications
- A current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) certification is required.
Pay
Pay Rate: $23.00/hour. Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors, including relevant years of experience and qualifications. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.
