Major duties and responsibilities
- Cook up and support Engineering Integrated Product Teams and develop meeting minutes as required.
- Assist with analyses in concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal. Provide written technical reports as required.
- Provide input to technical oversight of research, development, design, and integration efforts.
- Support technical interface and coordination with stakeholders on all processes involved in system engineering. System analysis tasks include requirements definition, functional analysis, trade studies, design synthesis, configuration management, verification and validation, and cost, risk, and logistics analyses, Technical Performance Management, and Performance Verification (V&V).
- Support coordination, development, and closeout of Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR).
- Aid in the logical and systematic analysis of operational requirements and the conversion of requirements into hardware and software system requirements/specifications.
- Perform analysis of baselines (allocated, functional, and product) to support detailed trade studies, systems performance analysis, and reviews technical drawing packages for accuracy.
- Aid in identifying, assessing, and documenting technical risks.
- Support testing and system assessments as required.
- Aid in providing engineering input to the Program Integrated Master Schedules.
- Provide engineering input to program briefs.
- Support the development of Change Initiation Briefs (CIBs) and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)
Required skills
- Understanding of basic system engineering management processes and experience in system engineering practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer facing and internal communications skills
- Ability to assist, and lead, when necessary, in the development and preparation of systems engineering documents.
- Ability to determine root causes of engineering issues and develop recommendations for mediation and correction.
- Ability to translate requirements into technical performance characteristics for complex electronics equipment.
- Excellent technical communications skills (oral and written) and understanding of the Marine Corps mission.
- Excellent MS Office skills to include, but not limited to MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
- Excellent analytical skills
- Desired: Understanding of engineering drawing practices of ASME Y14.100-2000.
Required experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics discipline. 6 years in lieu of degree.
- Ability to obtain and retain a Secret level security clearance within 6 months of hire.
- 2+ to 5 years of related experience.
Desired experience
- Experience working in a Marine Corps Systems Command Program Office or similar organization
- Prior Marine Corps experience a plus
