Technical Accounting Manager

Responsibilities
Leading technical accounting research and preparing clear, well-supported accounting memos on complex or non-standard matters under U.S. GAAP, with particular strength in ASC 606, ASC 340-40, ASC 340-50, and related guidance.
Evaluating customer arrangements for ASC 606 implications, including identification of performance obligations, allocation considerations, timing of revenue recognition, contract modifications, and other judgmental areas.
Drafting, maintaining, and updating accounting policies and position papers to support a scalable and well-controlled accounting environment.
Serving as a primary technical resource for the finance team on revenue recognition, policy application, and other complex accounting matters.
Supporting the external audit process by preparing technical memos, audit schedules, and other documentation needed to support the company's accounting positions.
Supporting tax-related workstreams, including coordination and documentation for sales tax and income tax matters.
Partnership cross-functionally with Legal, Sales, RevOps, and other stakeholders to review deal terms and flag accounting issues before they become downstream execution challenges.
Identifying gaps, pain points, and control weaknesses in current accounting workflows, and helping address them through better processes, automation, AI-enabled tools, and improved documentation.
Creating redundancy across the team by cross-training on key accounting processes and serving as backup support where needed.
Acting as a reliable, hands-on team member who can step into high-priority areas during audit cycles, close periods, or bandwidth constraints.
Requirements
6 to 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, required to include both public accounting and industry experience.
Background in a major public accounting firm is required.
Strong technical accounting background with demonstrated experience applying ASC 606 and other U.S. GAAP guidance in practice.
Proven experience researching accounting issues and drafting high-quality technical accounting memos and policy documentation.
Experience reviewing contracts and translating commercial terms into appropriate accounting conclusions.
Working knowledge of contract cost capitalization, commission expensing, and related accounting considerations.
Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a high bar for documentation quality and audit readiness.
Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical conclusions to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
A collaborative, low ego, and hands-on approach, with the willingness to work across both technical and operational accounting matters.
CPA required.
NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
Experience in SaaS, technology, and/or pre-IPO environments is a plus.
