About the Role
The Inventory Technician is responsible for the stocking, ordering, and inventory maintenance of supplies and equipment. This role works collaboratively with department and organizational leadership to ensure quality inventory control and proper inventory availability.
Responsibilities
- Receives and inventories orders/supplies for assigned area of responsibility.
- Stocks/replenishes shelves, carts, and/or rooms utilizing the appropriate inventory method (FIFO, LIFO, etc.).
- Tracks ordered supplies to ensure on-time delivery and complies with any applicable vendor tracking requirements.
- Routinely checks inventory for expiration dates and acts to minimize waste for expired supplies.
- Properly disposes of damaged or expired product/supplies.
- Rotates all stock in supply rooms and/or carts as needed.
- Develops, maintains, and tracks inventory records in a neat and organized manner, adding/editing/deleting items as needed.
- Maintains adequate and complete records of supply usage through departmental expense logs to assist in expense variance analysis.
- Works with department and organizational leadership to add new supplies as stock items or remove obsolete supplies.
- Replaces any unused stock from rooms/carts, as required.
- Reviews backorder reports from current distributor and orders clinically approved substitute items for assigned units. Places backorder cards in bins, as needed.
- Coordinates equipment repairs and/or loaner equipment with repair vendors, as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
