Tech Environmental Specialist
Role Overview
The Science Services Branch (SSB) and Chemistry Services Section provide Office of Land Quality (OLQ) site chemistry expertise and policy interpretation for the Remediation, Tanks, Permits and Compliance Branches. Chemistry support includes performing chemistry related research, serving as the lead for internal sample set up processes and training, assisting emergency response on an as needed basis and leading the OLQ contract lab contract procurement and administration process.
Requirements
- Extensive chemistry, remediation, waste analysis, contract, and sampling experience
- Evaluation, coordination, and assistance with high-profile and complex special projects and research initiatives
- Coordination with all OLQ E7s on technical and administrative matters
- Willingness to apply existing and new technology to optimize processes
- A valid IN driver's license
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of experience applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role
- At least 2 years of the required experience must be in an administrative, leadership, managerial, or supervisory capacity
- Completion of relevant education degree(s) may substitute for equivalent years of experience
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of and the ability to research, interpret and apply a wide variety of Federal and State laws, rules and regulations
- Working knowledge of using word processing, database and spreadsheet software applications
- Excellent communication skills, especially on high level technical or legal/enforcement issues
- Writing skills demonstrating the ability to produce clear, concise, and correct letters, instructions, fact sheets, reports, permits, grants and other documents for the agency
- Management and coordination of several projects simultaneously
Pay
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $67,314.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.
Schedule
This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work.
