About the role

We are seeking a Maintenance Utilities Technician to join our team at our Swedesboro, NJ bakery. As a Maintenance Utilities Technician, you will ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all facility utility systems—including refrigeration, HVAC, boiler systems, and electrical distribution—critical in supporting continuous production and facility compliance.

Shift & Schedule

Shift: 2nd
Hours: 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM (Sun-Thurs; Fri and Sat off)
Weekend Availability: Required
Compensation: Hourly Rate: $38 - $42

Core Accountabilities

  • Operate and maintain utility systems—including ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, boilers, and compressed air—to ensure continuous facility operations
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to minimize downtime
  • Perform preventative maintenance and equipment inspections to ensure reliability and compliance
  • Monitor and optimize equipment performance, including energy efficiency of ammonia compressors and boiler systems
  • Maintain safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance, including PSM/RMP documentation and GMP standards
  • Cover internal and external resources to complete maintenance activities and support system uptime
  • Support emergency response efforts involving hazardous materials and utility system failures

Minimum Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • State of New Jersey licenses for hazardous refrigeration and high-pressure steam system operation
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Demonstrated experience with industrial utility systems and maintenance operations
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and vendor documentation
  • Mechanical aptitude with experience disassembling and reassembling equipment
  • Ability to meet physical requirements (climbing ladders, working on roofs, lifting equipment)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
  • Experience in food manufacturing or other regulated environments
  • Knowledge of GMP, FDA, HACCP, and sanitation standards
  • Understanding of state and federal environmental and safety regulations
  • Experience with energy management best practices
