PURPOSE OF POSITION
The purpose of this position is to approach all patients in a friendly, respectful manner and perform venipuncture to collect specimens for testing as ordered by the patient’s physician according to established policies and procedures.
Weekender Program
- Weekend days include both Saturday and Sunday.
- Colleagues are paid 4 additional hours at their base wage rate for each shift completed.
- The additional 4 hours are only eligible for colleagues who are approved to participate in the Weekender Program.
- Colleagues are considered full-time status, 32 hours per week.
- The additional 4 hours per shift are not considered "working hours" and therefore, do not count towards Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) qualifying hours or hours toward overtime for the week.
- The venipuncture tech may, however, use Paid Time Off (PTO) time to be paid for the hours not worked on a weekend.
- Unscheduled Absence - When a colleague calls off for their shift due to injury or illness, the colleague will use 16 hours of PTO time to make up for the missed shift: 12 hours regular shift + 4 additional hours.
- Holiday Scheduling – Weekender Program colleagues are expected to work ALL HOLIDAYS that fall on the scheduled weekend shift.
- PTO- Weekender Program colleagues accrue PTO time based on their years of service, see PTO policy in the Colleague handbook.
