About the role

The Team Member acts as a point of contact for customers, handling stocking, merchandising displays, recovering merchandise, providing product knowledge, cleaning the store, operating cash registers, and other duties assigned by the Store Manager to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction while protecting company assets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide superior customer service to exceed expectations.
  • Use product knowledge and selling techniques to enhance the customer experience.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well‑organized store environment.
  • Assist in merchandising the store in an appealing manner and retain customer excitement.
  • Rotate product and create eye‑catching displays following company merchandising guidelines.
  • Complete daily and weekly cleaning tasks to ensure a superior shopping experience.
  • Condense, reset, and recover displayed merchandise to keep the store clutter‑free.
  • Follow company policies and procedures as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures manual and Employee Handbook.
  • Operate cash registers and scanners to itemize purchases, collect payment, make change, bag merchandise, and assist customers.
  • Assist customers with the self‑checkout process at multiple terminals simultaneously.
  • Unpack, stock, restock, rotate merchandise on shelves, and build merchandise displays.
  • Clean the store, take out trash, dust and mop floors, clean restrooms and receiving rooms, and help set up sidewalk displays.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
  • Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to read and follow planograms and merchandise presentation guides.
  • Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures and basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to perform cash register functions and to stock and display merchandise.
  • Frequent walking and standing; frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling for checkout, stocking, and unloading.
  • Frequent handling of merchandise and equipment (hand‑held scanner, pricing guns, box cutters, containers, two‑wheel dollies, six‑wheel carts).
  • Frequent lifting of up to 40 lb (occasionally up to 55 lb); occasional climbing using a ladder.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Exposure to strong scents, fragrances, outside weather conditions, wet floor surfaces, and cleaning solutions.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
