Job Responsibilities
- Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies.
- Understand and promote Magna’s philosophies (Magna Operational Principles, Corporate Constitution and Employee’s Charter).
- Ensure daily pre-shift inspections are completed and conduct planned inspection audits on each shift.
- Routinely make visual inspections of emergency evacuation routes correcting any safety concerns immediately.
- Within 24 hours of an accident/incident, complete accident investigations identifying root cause and corrective action.
- Conduct weekly safety talks in pre-shift meetings and ensure employees sign safety training roster.
- Immediately attend to all accidents and injuries and initiate the accident and injury investigation, while following up to ensure procedure implementation and completion.
- Utilize interactive management principles when implementing corrective discipline procedures in dealing with employees, encourage professional development to enhance team performance, and cross train to maximize flexibility and coverage to accommodate vacations and absences.
- Provide timely coaching, counseling, and feedback to employees through one-on-one sessions, performance evaluations, and regular team meetings to ensure fulfillment of policies, practices, and procedures.
- Schedule, supervise, coordinate and direct the activities of employees and equipment to ensure that quality and productivity standards are met.
- Ensure a quality product (measuring tools, part inspection and fixtures) and know the quality procedures.
- Promote teamwork, maintain accurate paperwork/production reports to facilitate shift to shift transitions, verify that finished products are stored properly and develop set-up procedures.
- Participate/initiate continuous improvements and take advantage of cost reduction opportunities.
- Participate and implement Lean activities as they are introduced such as 5S, Kanban, PDCA’s and Standardized work.
- Ensure the improvement of Press Department KPI’s by participating in the tracking and enhancement measures that are implemented.
- Support company and customer quality systems, continuous improvement and lean manufacturing process.
- Avoid daily line UPS/Carry over/PM’s/Red tag issues/Follow ECN and tooling improvement.
- Maintain TPM of all tooling, and make sure all tooling is ready to meet press schedules.
- Maintain open communication and provide continued support with other departments with any changes, problems, or special projects.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Relevant experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
