Team Leader- MS Clutch, 2nd Shift

About the role

The purpose of the 2nd SHIFT Team Leader role is to provide guidance and support on an ongoing basis to production associates in the MagStop Value Stream. The success of the person in this role is vital to the continuous improvement efforts in the area(s), as well as the success of Warner Electric to meet and exceed customer expectations.

Responsibilities

• Attend designated external course on supervision/leadership as determined by management and then at least on a once annual basis.
• Spend limited time on an alternate shift(s) for training and understanding of daily priorities.
• Maintain the appropriate level of 5S in the work area and update the Daily Management boards regularly.
• Ensure a safe working environment and retrain associates when necessary to establish, understand, and recognize appropriate safety behavior.
• Assume lead role for addressing quality concerns or defects throughout the shift and conduct training sessions to raise awareness and resolve quality issues.
• Champion standard work methodology, ensuring consistent standard work is followed and identifying and solving problems when necessary.
• Train new associates on appropriate methods of standard work, rotation, changeover and setup of machines, maintaining and operating machines, understanding daily priorities, and ensuring the correct procedures are followed to produce quality parts.
• Lead by example, provide coaching to all associates as needed, and ensure all policies and procedures are followed during the shift.
• Communicate concerns or ideas to Supervision in a timely manner and interface with previous and following shift Team Leaders to pass on relevant information.
• Act as a primary coordinator with Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance to identify areas for improvement and solve issues as they arise.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be considered a 'certified' trainer in the area.
• Previous experience required. Post-secondary education preferred.

Skills

• Reasoning ability.
• Mathematical skills.
• Physical demands: occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, standing 100% of the day, exposure to moving mechanical parts, noise levels usually minimal to moderate.

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
