What You'll Be Doing
- Prepare production job jackets and communicate any work order discrepancies to the Shift Manager.
- Issue work orders to the appropriate machines and operators.
- Provide hands-on training and coaching to operators, particularly on systems such as Radius and Quality Windows.
- Identify employee development opportunities and communicate training recommendations.
- Ensure materials are delivered to the appropriate workstations before production begins.
- Review work order requirements and specifications with operators prior to production.
- Verify production waste is properly identified, sealed, and documented.
- Maintain Bobst laminator recipes, requesting new recipes when necessary.
- Operate all lamination equipment and perform all Operator III and Team Leader I responsibilities.
- Calibrate and maintain the Synaptik System.
- Maintain department supply levels and submit weekly replenishment requests.
- Verify and approve machine setups before production begins.
- Ensure operators are using the correct production recipes and work instructions.
- Inspect and approve finished products to ensure customer specifications and quality standards are met.
- Prepare maintenance work orders and communicate equipment concerns.
- Process material rejections and rework approvals within the Shop Floor system.
- Cook with IT regarding Shop Floor system issues.
- Communicate machine performance, production concerns, and operational updates with the Shift Manager.
- Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Ensure sanitation procedures, cleaning checklists, and pre-operational inspections are completed.
- Verify required quality inspections for intermediate products are completed and documented.
- Ensure combo jobs comply with Allergen Control Requirements.
- Ensure Critical Control Point (CCP) monitoring procedures are followed.
- Ensure allergen control procedures are followed for both returned and internal rework materials.
- Attend daily shift meetings and scheduled departmental meetings.
- Conduct thorough shift handoffs by communicating: Production status, Schedule changes, Equipment issues, Improvement opportunities, Department priorities.
- Prepare and distribute daily roll call communications.
- Report food safety concerns and policy violations to management immediately.
- Participate in Global Performance System (GPS) initiatives, including: 5-Star activities, Pillar Teams, Safety and quality audits, Near Miss reporting, Continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support production goals while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent manufacturing experience.
- The ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Previous lamination, slitting, or flexible packaging manufacturing experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience operating lamination equipment and performing all Operator III responsibilities.
- Experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Effective communication with operators, supervisors, maintenance, quality, and support teams.
- Experience working with manufacturing systems such as Radius, Shop Floor, or similar production software.
- Understanding of food safety, sanitation, allergen control, and quality requirements in a manufacturing environment.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and promoting a positive team culture.
