Team Leader

Overall Job Summary

The Team Leader supports Store leadership, delivers Legendary Service, coaches Team Members, and owns assigned sales-floor presentation areas. Team Leaders are expected to be top selling Team Members and have clear ownership of Power Panels, Clipstrips, Endcaps, Clothing recovery, and assigned BOPIS/OMNI support based on store needs.

Essential Duties

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance; work scheduled shifts with varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed
• Uphold and promote a safe and productive work environment by following and enforcing policies and procedures
• Deliver Legendary Service and reinforce Leading with Legendary behaviors through Customer engagement, Team Member coaching, and accountability for execution
• Use A+ Coaching routines to develop Team Members, improve selling behaviors, and reinforce consistent operating standards
• Model selling behaviors as one of the top selling Team Members in the store
• Train, coach, and follow up with Team Members during assigned shifts using A+ Coaching
• Own Power Panel execution, maintenance, replenishment, signing, and recovery
• Own Clipstrip execution, maintenance, replenishment, signing, and recovery
• Own Endcap execution, maintenance, signing, and recovery
• Own full weekly Clothing Department recovery, including assigned standards and follow-up
• Support BOPIS/OMNI execution, including picking, staging, Customer handoff, and follow-up as assigned
• Lead assigned Team Members during shifts, including task delegation, follow-up, service expectations, and safe work practices
• Support front-end, sales-floor, recovery, and Customer engagement routines as assigned by the Store Manager or Sales Manager
• In under $9M stores, report through and receive direction from the Store Manager; in over $9M stores, report through and receive direction from the Sales Manager
• Support Store recovery while recognizing Power Panels, Clipstrips, Endcaps, and Clothing are owned through Team Leader area ownership rather than the general Recovery SOP
• Operate cash register, computer, forklift, and other equipment as needed; assist customers with loading purchases
• Complete all documentation accurately and timely
• Obtain licenses or certifications as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Retail experience and/or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge strongly preferred
• Supervisory experience preferred
• At least 18 years of age with a valid driver's license
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required; must be able to read, write, and count accurately regardless of education level

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict
• Ability to perform and execute principle responsibilities of Team Members

Working Conditions

• Generally working inside with moderate noise
• Work shifts vary but generally are no less than 4 hours and may exceed 10 hours
• Indoor floors and outdoor lots are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.) with adequate lighting and temperature
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions

Physical Requirements

• Move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the store
• Push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with proper material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jack)
• Occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead
• Frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders
• Move throughout the store for an entire shift
• Safely access all areas of the store including selling floor, side lot, stock area, and register area
• Operate and use all necessary store equipment (dolly, handtruck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register) — forklift and baler requirements do not apply if under 18
• Constantly operate store equipment such as computer, cash register, and other store equipment
• Read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation
• Utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and customers
• Process information/merchandise through the point-of-sale system
• Handle and be in contact with birds/poultry
• Successfully complete training and certification to dispense propane, and dispense propane (does not apply if under 18)
• Successfully complete all required training
• Travel as required in support of district needs
• Drive or operate a vehicle for business needs
• This position is non-sedentary
