Team Leader

About the role

The Team Leader oversees team members, trains new employees, sets daily objectives, communicates with Shift Supervisors, motivates teamwork, provides direction, evaluates equipment, monitors safety, and ensures proper use of company time.

Responsibilities

• Motivate workers to enhance production quantity and maintain high standards.
• Consult with key team members and inspire teamwork.
• Provide direction, instructions, and guidance to a group of individuals.
• Treat team members with respect and dignity.
• Evaluate manufacturing equipment for safety and functionality.
• Monitor the floor to ensure HACCP and safety rules are followed and enforced.
• Work with the shift supervisor to maximize manpower during vacations, breaks, and absenteeism.
• Operate formers as needed.
• Monitor human and material resources to achieve production goals.
• Assure employees utilize company time properly and minimize machine downtime.
• Provide training and direction for team members needing to improve job skills.
• Communicate issues to the Supervisor or designate daily, including excessive scrap, poor setups, etc.
• Assure partial cases/pallets are re-implemented into production and large boxes are stored properly.
• Ensure equipment and tools are in proper place at the end of the shift.
• Housekeeping will be a priority.
• Check finished products for quality and adherence to company standards.
• Cover the role of the shift supervisor when absent.
• Monitor and facilitate changeovers, setup sheets, gauges, etc.
• Ensure idle formers have WIP removed for magazines.
• Organize and lead sorts and repacks.
• During peak periods, work extended hours as needed.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience in a leadership role.
• At least one year of experience in manufacturing.
• Strong ability to motivate, lead, and give directions to team members.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate effectively with all team members.
• Safety-conscious.
• Good time management skills.
• Strong experience with machining and/or manufacturing processes.
• Solid knowledge of machine capabilities and manufacturing.
• Computer skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience in a leadership role.
