Since opening our first stores in April 2002, we have grown to operate 71 retail locations across Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. We cater to our customers' needs by supplying a wide variety of products in departments such as tools, hardware, automotive, pet, work and casual clothing, footwear, farm supplies, horse and livestock feed, bird food, lawn and garden, and alternative heating.

About the Role

The primary responsibility of a Family Farm and Home Team Leader is to learn and uphold the company’s culture by consistently supporting and strengthening its core philosophies. This role requires strong leadership skills to motivate and supervise team members while serving as a role model, problem-solver, and strategic thinker. Team Leaders manage their time to achieve budgeted goals and assist the Store Manager in driving sales and profits through merchandising, inventory management, expense control, human resource management, and operating cost control.

Responsibilities

• Promote Family Farm and Home’s mission statement and family values.
• Assist the Store Manager in fostering an aggressive sales culture with a focus on superior customer service.
• Maintain professionalism and positive store morale.
• Support the Store Manager in executing and performing all store job responsibilities through associates and/or personal actions.
• Complete store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results.
• Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with customers and potential customers.
• Build relationships and support local community groups in alignment with company values.
• Encourage customers to sign up for Family Farm and Home programs, such as the loyalty program, extended warranties, financing, and item of the month.
• Manage and protect all inventory and company assets in accordance with company policy to prevent theft and damage.
• Verify merchandise is received, stored, and merchandised in all departments following operational and safety procedures.
• Protect team members and customers by complying with legal requirements and maintaining a safe, clean store environment.
• Assist the Store Manager in reviewing operating and financial statements and departmental sales records to determine marketing strategy changes.
• Support the Store Manager in maintaining consistent operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing operational and personnel policies and procedures.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Store Manager or company officials.

Requirements

• Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills for effective interaction with customers, vendors, and associates.
• Understanding of aggressive customer service and a team-oriented mindset.
• Good management and organizational skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Capability to move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store.
• Ability to climb ladders, reach, bend, twist, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
