About the role

The Team Lead, Warehousing is responsible for leading all dock personnel, assisting supervisors with managing the day-to-day activity of the dock, and ensuring the integrity of freight and warehouse operations. This role involves controlling and maintaining all records required for accurate, on-time completion of shipments while working in a team environment to accomplish work assignments and delegate tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and assist with the movement of freight, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, or containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment.
  • Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material and equipment needs.
  • Understand and carry out instructions given orally and in writing, including those on the manifest and other shipping documents.
  • Control and maintain all records required for accurate, on-time completion of shipments.
  • Work in a team environment to accomplish work assignments.
  • Ensure safety methods and programs are implemented and maintained.
  • Comply with company C-TPAT and TSA security procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide guidance and act as a resource for questions and issue resolution with staff members, with direction from management.
  • Create and maintain strong, positive working relationships with all employees and dock staff.
  • Regular attendance is required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 1-3 years of experience. Experience in the warehousing or transportation industry is preferred, though a combination of experience and/or education will be considered.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and a criminal history background check.

Skills

  • Ability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Ability to read and interpret general business documents.
  • Attention to detail and good follow-up skills.
  • Good judgment to know when to escalate issues and when to resolve them independently.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, internet, web-based, and job-specific software applications.
  • Proficient typing skills with the ability to update computer systems quickly and accurately.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with little direction in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with a high level of energy and self-motivation.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects while setting priorities.
  • Problem-solving skills to address moderately complex issues with semi-standardized solutions.
  • Mentally and emotionally capable of handling a high-stress environment.
  • High level of attention to detail in composing, typing, and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and use collaborative relationships to accomplish work goals.

Pay

$21.00-$23.00 per hour

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Capable of individually lifting a minimum of 30 lbs. and team lifting a minimum of 70 lbs.
  • Often required to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects repeatedly or continuously over time, involving muscular endurance and resistance to muscle fatigue.
  • Frequently required to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with the body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Required to see details at close range and at a distance.

Work Environment

  • Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts in a warehouse setting.
  • Frequent exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, and/or heat.
  • Occasional exposure to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibration.
  • Loud noise levels in the work environment.

This position functions with supervision and has no direct reports. Responsibilities may include training employees, assigning and directing work, addressing complaints, and assisting supervisors with resolving problems.
