The role involves testing the electrical operation of HVAC units following installation of structural, mechanical, electrical, and condensing components to ensure compliance with product specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct start of shift team meetings leading morning stretches and communicate schedules, priorities, safety, and production issues.
  • Maintain Run Test communication board updating required information on a daily basis, such as safety, on-time completion, first pass yield.
  • Assist run test technicians in trouble-shooting as needed.
  • Pretest Protocols: Move units to designated location for testing, work from Glovia, job folder, ETQ, Production Schedule and QMS systems to refer to BOM, operating requirements and standards, work instruction and in-process inspection checklists, schedules, and any related nonconforming issues.
  • Dry Test Protocols: Perform ground check, verify ohms on all motors and compressors, perform Hi Pot testing, energize unit at 120 volts, test all components for proper operation and safety.
  • Run Test Protocols: Refer to Lock-Out Tag-Out and Energize/De-Energize Procedures, energize unit at proper voltage/amperage per specifications, test proper operation and direction of blowers, fans, and wheels, balance fans/blowers to engineering specifications, document test results on specific data recording sheet.
  • Troubleshoot failed units and make defined adjustments, create DPU in QMS for defective units or parts, make routine installations of replacement components or notify production for the need of replacement parts, record all adjustments, apply final inspection sticker to ECAN signifying all requirements are met and pass inspection.
  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Update production schedule, labor hours (run test and rework), complete in-process inspection checklist and track/update run test communication board.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Consistently operate in keeping with all safety rules and requirements.
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.

Qualifications

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer Skills: excel, lotus notes.
  • Skilled and experienced with using power, air and hydraulic operated tools common to the trade.
  • Capability of reading circuit diagrams and schematics, ladder logic diagrams and layout drawings.
  • Ability to troubleshoot circuits and devices and recommend changes or improvements.
  • Complete knowledge of refrigeration operation systems: charging, brazing, check sub-cool and set super heat.
  • Understands electrical theory and practice as applied to the operation of such components as electric motors, motor starters, contractors, control relays, time delay relays, circuit breakers, fusing, PLC’s, fluid flow and temperature sensors, and other related electrical, pneumatic and mechanical components.

Skills

  • Use multimeter, digital refrigeration gauge, temp probe, manometer, analog signal generator, balancing machine, leak detectors (refrigerant & gas), temperature and humidity meter, hand and hand power tools, motorized pallet jack, tachometer, and ac clamps.
  • Operate a Cart Caddy.
