Job Responsibilities

  • Captures daily production activities including job assignments and rotations.
  • Collaborates with Area Leader before shift start-up to understand the current line and production state, absentee/tardiness call-ins, and changes to normal employee work areas/equipment.
  • Holds daily pre-shift meetings to inform Production Associates of any changes, to communicate daily requirements, and to promote involvement in issues affecting employees or their work areas.
  • Ensures TPM/Daily Care activities, safety checks, tip changes, etc. are completed properly and as scheduled.
  • Audits the process daily to ensure appropriate first-off and last-off procedures for all processes are followed.
  • Prepares the production line for the next shift start.
  • Manages Utility Operators and trains Production Associates on and ensures adherence to standardized work processes.
  • Trains, qualifies, and authorizes Production Associates to perform assigned duties, ensuring no team members are working on any machinery/equipment they have not been properly trained on.
  • Adheres and ensures adherence to Company 5S procedures.
  • Performs Layered Process Audits (LPA) as required and quickly resolves any non-conformances.
  • Follows the Quality Alert System, communicates and ensures quality alerts are adhered to, and participates in problem solving to ensure issues have been effectively resolved.
  • Administers the fast response board and responds to Andon alerts and other issues quickly, gaining understanding of the problem(s) and requesting support from the appropriate group(s).
  • Monitors safety, quality, timing, cost, and motivation KPI targets continuously and responds to issues of underperformance with urgency, providing direction, assistance, support, and coaching to resolve the issues, following the proper escalation procedures as required.
  • Applies systematic and data-based problem-solving methods to resolve issues effectively and leads and supports Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping efforts, and other continuous improvement activities.
  • Completes administrative duties thoroughly, accurately, and on time, reports all non-conformances to Company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, and conducts performance reviews informally or formally as required.
  • Fosters teamwork within the department, creates an environment where team members are respectful, work together, communicate effectively, and lend a hand when/where required.
  • Participates in the Return-to-Work (R-T-W) program and ensures employees work within their R-T-W plan.
  • Maintains awareness of Physical Demands Analysis in their area of responsibility and ensures that assigned work does not jeopardize the healing and recovery process.
  • Makes sure suppliers are performing work safely while in operations work areas/zones when applicable.
  • Attends departmental and plant-wide communication meetings as scheduled.
  • Complies with, supports, and models CBAM’s operational procedures/policies, Employee Handbook, and Magna’s Employee’s Charter, Corporate Constitution, and Operational Principles.
  • Complies with relevant Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental programs (e.g. ISO 9001/IATF 16949, ISO 45001 ISO 14001).
  • Complies with all Health and Safety programs in accordance with OSHA.
  • Follows and ensures Production Associates follow all Company procedures and regulations regarding safety.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational/trade school education in Manufacturing, Production, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years manufacturing/operations experience.
  • Knowledge of and basic skills in lean manufacturing principles and problem solving methods.
  • Understanding of basic OSHA and safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of basic automotive quality terms and measuring methods.
  • Experience using check fixtures/gauges.
  • Practical experience with computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Good math skills and the ability to analyze data.
  • Strong listening and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and with a variable workload (flexible hours).
  • Ability to understand, anticipate, and follow direction while exercising maturity of judgement.
  • Ability to interact effectively with other team members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion and tact.
  • Physically capable of performing essential duties of the job.
