About the role
The Shipping and Logistics Lead for finished goods material is responsible for assisting with all cases shipped to internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
- Oversee work assignments given to Shipping Operators and provide assistance towards determining and meeting short-term departmental objectives.
- Delegate job assignments and determine priorities based on available labor and workload.
- Ensure shipping personnel execute job duties and demonstrate personal conduct compliant with all applicable guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Take appropriate actions to assure efficient and compliant operation for internal and external customers.
- Communicate with department management, traffic, and/or shipping associates regarding accuracy, safety, and housekeeping; take corrective actions as needed.
- Observe and communicate unsafe conditions to traffic and/or supervision and take corrective actions.
- Provide assistance with problem-solving for shipping personnel and other designees regarding scanning and case location questions.
- Demonstrate ability to adjust to changing demands and priorities on a constant basis.
- Assist with planning for and execution of quarterly physical inventories.
- Ensure personnel meet or exceed the minimum number of trailers/cases loaded daily; perform root cause analysis when mistakes are discovered and conduct 6S audits.
- Ensure company safety, quality, and performance procedures are met in a safe, clean, and organized setting; offer recommendations to improve these standards.
- Operate lift truck or hand truck to move products when necessary.
- Occasional, and at times heavy, overtime and extended hours are required, including weekends.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- One to three years of related experience and/or training.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
- Minimum 4 years of warehouse experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Warehouse supervisory experience.
- AS400 Experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based, and job-specific software applications.
- Self-motivated with the ability to demonstrate sound judgment in unexpected or unfamiliar work and people situations.
- Close attention to detail to ensure accuracy of documents, proper storage and movement of materials, proper data entry in AS400 systems, and correction of unsafe or housekeeping conditions.
Skills
- Ability to lift 50 pounds plus bending, twisting, or lifting from awkward positions or in tight spaces.
- Able to push and pull cases in excess of 200 lbs to 800 lbs repetitiously.
- Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to sit, stoop, and/or kneel.
