Team Lead - Firearms
About the role
The Team Leader provides daily direction to the associates in the firearms department, supporting the Group Sales or Department Manager in achieving departmental goals and maintaining a positive, harassment-free work environment.
Responsibilities
- Supports the Group Sales or Department Manager in firearm sales compliance and departmental operations
- Directs and guides Sales Outfitters in firearm safe handling, operations, and customer experience standards
- Works with the Group Sales or Department Manager to meet sales, gross margin, inventory shrinkage, and payroll goals
- Prepares to-do lists and executes merchandising directives
- Maintains a pleasant shopping experience and ensures proper staffing of the department
- Resolves customer and associate issues, maintains high customer service standards, and assists in interviewing and selecting new hires
- Trains and coaches associates, prepares weekly work schedules, and provides performance appraisals
- Assists the Group Sales or Department Manager in coordinating special events, maintaining pricing and UPC integrity, and ensuring proper display and pricing of advertised items
- Assists in supervisory responsibilities, including interviewing, training, and resolving problems
- Helps customers make buying decisions by identifying and evaluating their needs, making product recommendations, and promoting programs like CLUB Membership and In-Store Pick-up
Qualifications
- Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Experience: 2 to 4 Years in Retail Sales, Supervisor experience a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts, read and analyze reports, present information, and respond to questions
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with PC-based software and equipment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Physical requirements: Stand and walk during shift, communicate with others, perform repetitive motions, operate machinery and power tools, work in tight and confined spaces, work in noisy environments

- Constantly communicate with others to exchange information

- Occasionally operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment
- Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds constantly, may occasionally move and lift objects up to 100 pounds or more (utilizing a team lift as needed)
- Occasionally work in tight and confined spaces
- Occasionally work in noisy environments
Independent Judgement
Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired results. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
