About the Position

As a Team Lead in the Oil & Gas group, you will grow and lead a team of engineers, drafters, designers, and/or technicians predominantly servicing industrial clients. The primary responsibility is the accurate, timely, and quality completion of Electrical Engineering scopes assigned to the team. You will assist in developing the department’s Standard Best Practices (SBP’s) and enforcing/implementing them. This role involves mentoring and coaching team members to help them grow professionally.

This opportunity is available to candidates in or around Midland/Odessa, TX, and allows for remote work from this geographical location.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the Director of Oil and Gas market vertical to grow and scale a team in the heart of the Permian Basin with some overlap in Delaware Basin.
  • Help formulate a business plan annually in conjunction with other Team Leads in the market as well as the Director.
  • Ensure high backlog, utilization, and margins on project work.
  • Leverage Resource Planning Tools to balance workload across peers.
  • Assign and coordinate work with entry-level engineers, technicians, or administrative staff.
  • Support business development via Seller-Doer, assist with marketing tasks, and prepare proposals as needed.
  • Assist with establishing and managing engineering budget and scope expectations.
  • Prepare technical write-ups for applicable change orders.
  • Review submittals for conformance with client specifications and design.
  • Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines.
  • Work additional time beyond 40 hours/week to complete projects, proposals, and/or administrative functions, as required.
  • Maintain strong and responsive Company-Client relationships, particularly for communication pertaining to specific assignments and meeting topics.
  • Manage and support team member development and growth through individualized development plans and servant leadership.
  • Seek opportunities for value engineering and efficiencies in design.
  • Prepare a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, proposals, and studies.
  • Visit key, platinum accounts to give quarterly business updates and solicit feedback.
  • Attend conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work.
  • Maintain high ethical and professional standards while showing strong judgement.
  • Maintain professional understanding of all applicable Codes and Standards, and construction practices.
  • Review and verify the work of engineers, designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy.
  • Provide field assistance, troubleshooting, and observation reports.
  • Check the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution (electric power option preferred).
  • 5+ years of engineering or relevant field experience.
  • PE is preferred but can be offset with industry experience.
  • Professional, articulate, and able to exercise good independent judgement and discretion.
  • Highly organized, motivated self-starter.
  • Proven record of delivering a high standard of quality work with attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with limited information to create system designs and plans.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment with a quickly growing team.
  • Good interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills; ability to interact successfully at all levels of the organization; high emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to develop staff through mentoring and coaching.
  • Effective written and oral communications skills.
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Physically live within the Midland/Odessa, Texas area.

Nice to Have

  • Previous leadership experience within a consulting organization.
  • Proficiency with power system software such as PSSE, PSCAD, PLSCADD, ETAP, SKM.
  • Proficiency with AI tools such as ChatGPT and/or Copilot.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and standard computer software.
  • Previous experience in the Oil & Gas industry, specifically in power engineering.
  • Previous experience with contracts, rates, T&Cs.

Pay

$125,000 - $175,000 base, plus benefits, and year-end bonus.
