Team Lead - Direct Mail (7a-7p)

About the role

A Team Lead assists the production department supervisor in technical and administrative tasks while also performing duties similar to the employees they oversee. This role involves stepping in to cover absent supervisors, ensuring team performance and target achievement, and maintaining production flow without formal authority.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the production floor for daily production.
• Order components and supplies to meet daily production requirements.
• Assist in maintaining schedule adherence and support growth initiatives.
• Follow supervisor’s guidance on break coverage.
• Operate low-priority machines and support priority machines.
• Demonstrate leadership in troubleshooting and working with operators.
• Participate in job changeovers, setup reduction, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
• Report issues or problems to the immediate supervisor or production manager.
• Fill in for supervisors in their absence as needed.
• Communicate shift status, job updates, and special instructions to the next shift.
• Monitor production consumables and conduct periodic process audits.
• Assist in other production areas as directed.
• Help monitor and update visibility boards.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly TPM tasks to maintain equipment performance.
• Follow all Nahan safety and quality standards.
• Work assigned shifts, including weekends and overtime, as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in a manufacturing setting as a team leader or machine operator preferred.
• Solid knowledge of machine capabilities and manufacturing processes/procedures.
• On-the-job training provided.

Skills

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot advanced machine/equipment malfunctions.
• Attention to detail and ability to identify quality defects.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders and technical specifications.
• Strong computer skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership, coaching, and training skills.
• Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and listening).
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal.

Pay

Wage range: $23 - $26 per hour. Base pay is based on job-related skills, experience, credentials, role scope, and location. Candidates outside the posted range are encouraged to apply, as qualifications and market factors may influence consideration.

Schedule

12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), including weekends and overtime as required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The role operates in a manufacturing environment with moderate to loud noise levels. Employees are frequently exposed to machinery, moving parts, airborne particles (including paper dust), and hazardous materials or fumes, which may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The position involves:

• Standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling for extended periods.
• Regularly lifting 70 lbs or more at a time.
• Using hands or fingers to reach, handle, or operate printing equipment.
• Close-up vision abilities for detailed work.
• Exposure to adverse weather conditions, high or precarious places, and confined spaces.
• Occasional use of hearing protection due to noise levels.
• Ability to tolerate extended seasonal hours while maintaining alertness to meet deadlines.
