About the Role

The Corrosion Service Team (CST) Team Lead (TL) manages and supervises a team or teams providing Corrosion Prevention and Control (CPAC) services as defined by Marine Corps Technical Manual 4795-OR/1A. The TL oversees CPAC program policies, procedures, and personnel, leads preventive maintenance, and ensures effective team communication and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and review all applicable CPAC program publications and policy letters to ensure compliance and understanding by all team members.
  • Enforce safety procedures and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with OSHA regulations.
  • Ensure uniformity of team member appearance and proper wear of employer-provided clothing.
  • Inspect, evaluate, and correct work accomplished by the CST team.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets for all products used by the team.
  • Conduct and maintain monthly inventory of accountable items and requisition as necessary.
  • Conduct biweekly inventory of hazmat materials (e.g., CPCs, CARC paint) and requisition as needed.
  • Ensure all accountable items are clean and operational.
  • Manage, conduct, and track CST team training (weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual).
  • Complete and submit all reporting requirements on time.
  • On occasion, perform CST operations, including applying Corrosion Prevention Compounds (CPCs) and operating equipment such as compressors, application guns, grinders, vacuums, and HVLP spray guns.
  • Accurately identify Marine Corps Corrosion Category Codes 1-5, the 4 stages of corrosion, and their correlation.
  • Perform equipment corrosion assessments using both paper and electronic versions of the Marine Corps CPAC Program Corrosion Assessment Checklist (CAC).
  • Perform routine maintenance of CPAC equipment.
  • Travel as required to perform duties.

Requirements

  • Hold or be capable of passing a background check for Defense Biometric Identification System credentials.
  • Hold or be capable of obtaining a Secret clearance.
  • Possess a US Passport, Real ID, or a driver’s license and Social Security card/original-notarized birth certificate for base access.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify mistakes and direct corrective action plans.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and delegate tasks.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Possess a valid state driver’s license.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds safely for short durations.
  • May be required to mount and dismount military and support equipment of varying heights for long durations.
  • May work in outdoor weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, etc.) for long durations.
  • Must wear and use company-provided PPE, including safety goggles, hand protection, and respirator equipment.
  • May be required to wear a dust mask or fitted respirator for tasks involving CPCs or paint application; employer ensures annual OSHA 1910.134 App A Quantitative Respirator Fit Test.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent, and/or vocational degree.
  • Graduate of a military school providing in-depth knowledge of Marine Corps operations and maintenance practices.
  • Preferred experience related to CPAC Programs, leadership roles, and organizational-level maintenance operations.

Schedule

Standard hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
