Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise and work closely with commercial lending staff by providing guidance and direction in the credit analysis and loan review functions.
- Oversee the accuracy and quality of the financial analysis and credit write-ups submitted by Credit Analysts.
- Assign tasks and responsibilities based on their complexity, the knowledge and experience levels of subordinates, and the departmental workflow.
- Make recommendations for personnel regarding employment, performance appraisals, salary changes, etc.
- Aid in the management of the commercial loan portfolio with respect to financial information, credit quality, while conforming to Bank policy, risk rating, Bank and compliance regulations, administrative procedures and profitability.
- Research and examine credit risks, assess credit history, and make recommendations to approve or disapprove extension of credit.
- Conduct financial, strategic and competitive analysis for both Industrial and Commercial real estate customers.
- Prepare loan documents and comprehensive credit proposals for Board presentations.
- Resolve customer service issues not resolved at staff levels.
- Provide technical advice and assistance to other loan officers as needed.
- Develop and analyze property cash flow information.
- Congduct in-depth review and analyze balance sheet and profit and loss statements presented by applicants for large commercial loans.
- Assess liquidity, quality of management, market position and overall business climate to estimate future profitability of business.
- Keep abreast of regulatory and department policy and procedures.
- Assist with implementation of appropriate changes, providing training and coaching for staff as needed.
- Aid in the creation, updating and implementation of department policies and procedures, as necessary to remain compliant with laws, regulatory requirements and guidelines.
- Aid Vice President - Commercial Credit Officer by gathering information requested by regulatory agencies and external or internal auditors for all lending exams and aid in the Bank’s response.
- Maintain knowledge of industry and field, recommending and assisting in special assignments/projects and in the development of new products and services to help meet competition.
- Maintain knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that management and staff members complete BSA related annual training in a timely manner and that all BSA procedures are followed when applicable.
- Identify and report compliance related issues and suspicious activity.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, or the equivalent through education and training in lending and credit areas.
- Three to five years of commercial lending credit analysis experience.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Well developed analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
