What You Will Do
You will provide direction regarding processes, procedures, and information while being accountable for the team’s overall departmental safety, quality, productivity, performance, customer service, and process improvements.
You will work closely with other departments and management to ensure daily objectives are met with assigned team of associates.
How You Will Do It
- Champion a Safety Culture using Johnson Controls (JCI) tools and best practices and participation in JCI programs and committees.
- Empower employees to take responsibility for their own safety as well as the safety of others.
- Safety Awareness - Relevant knowledge to train new employees or existing employees on the proper processes/equipment in the department.
- Knowledge of JSA’s, PPE usage, 5S, and all safety regulations in the facility.
- Drive Improvements to Metrics.
- Monitor departmental activities and ensure requirements are met in regard to: Safety, Quality, On-Time Delivery, Customer Service, Production Cost, and Inventory Management.
- Monitor scrap rates, productivity, on-time delivery, and standard hours.
- Work with the Quality department to resolve Customer Complaints and any supplier issues.
- Work with other departments and management to determine daily work assignments to meet customer requirements. Adjust priorities as needed to respond to customers’ needs in a timely manner.
- Assign daily job task to team members and defines realistic daily objectives while being sensitive to time constraints and resource availability.
- Ability to manage bottlenecks in a process to improve workflow, reduce work-in-process, and manage capacity.

- Able to develop unique and novel solutions to problems; use intuition and a new way of thinking to create a positive approach with opportunities for enhancement.
- Able to resolve production issues resulting in true root cause analysis.

- Flexibility. Availability to work overtime and/or move between shifts for training and/or coverage purposes to support production as needed.
- Comfortable conducting meetings with team members with a sense of urgency to meet expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to use computer utilizing software such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and ERP systems.
- Relevant knowledge to look up production orders, key parts into inventory, and use the system as a tool to assist in production.
- Perform material handling, set-up, and other departmental serving duties as required.
- Perform other assignments as directed by management.
Required
- High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and 2 years of experience.
- Previous experience in manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead change in a team environment.
- Ability to build effective teams; creative thinker.
- Collaborative style as well as the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Able to maintain confidentiality.

- Comfortable with repetitive tasks in a noisy and dusty setting.
Preferred
- Training and/or supervisory experience.
