About the role
The Team Lead is responsible for leading daily operations of the department; ensuring team members are successful and supporting production flow with high quality parts. This role is hands-on, working with complex parts and process development while leading the team with training, scheduling, and more.
Responsibilities
- Directs a group of employees. Responsible for departmental supervision.
- Sets up, programs and runs new jobs.
- Trains others within the group.
- Responsible for quality, quantity and safety of the group.
- Liaison between customer/purchasing/engineering and outside groups.
- Responsible for departmental scheduling.
- Aid in the development and implementation of quality programs.
- Responsible for work in process/inventory control.
- May assist with performance reviews.
- Keeps accurate records.
- Ensures work areas are kept clean.
Requirements
- Team lead or supervisory experience is required, preferably in a small team environment
- Embolies leadership attributes including empathy, selflessness, authenticity, decisiveness, and accountability
- Strong communication skills
- Experience training others in finishing techniques/processes
- Preferred experience in lean manufacturing and process improvement
- CNC machining experience is required, preferably in the aerospace industry, working with metal and tight tolerances
- Setup, program, and run machining jobs including new or complex parts.
- Strong understanding of prints, GD&T, and quality requirements (AS9100 or ISO experience preferred)
- Knowledge of or experience with CAD/CAM is preferred but not required.
