General Job Summary

Provides on the job working leadership to employees in assigned areas. Performs 50% of Composite Assembler III duties 50% of the time in conjunction with the Team Leader essential job functions.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides training assistance to new employees.
  • Distributes jobs to team members daily based on departmental dispatch list.
  • Actively supports management decisions and escalates employee/department concerns to immediate Supervisor.
  • Provides timely and effective feedback to employees based on established quality and productivity standards.
  • Affords direction, coaching, and feedback to employees.
  • Provides performance feedback to supervisor to support performance appraisal process.
  • Efficiently manages resources in area of responsibility.
  • Balances own workload and workload of others in order to meet schedules and deadlines.
  • Applies knowledge and technical experience to solve problems and identify and implement process improvements.
  • Safeguards work area and ensures compliance with all Company policies including: QMS, safety rules, standard operating procedures, and good manufacturing practices.
  • Conducts start-up meetings that effectively communicate the daily goals and previous shift performance.
  • Solicits employee feedback on missed opportunities and successes.
  • Verifies department paperwork is completed properly and in a timely manner – minimize paperwork escapes.
  • Checks daily availability of necessary materials, tools and equipment, machinery.
  • Safeguards department is stocked with ample supplies required for Production (gloves, razor blades, tape, cotton swabs, etc.).
  • Effectively communicates “pass down” information to other shift leaders or personnel.
  • Works cross-functionally with other department personnel, team leads, and supervisors.
  • Proactively addresses flow interrupters, eliminates 7 forms of waste [where applicable].
  • Works closely with the Supervisor & the Inspection team to maintain quality and reduce overall product cost and rework.
  • Suggests ways to simplify and improve methods and procedures wherever possible.
  • Champions good safety practices throughout the facility and acts as an example for others to follow in order to maintain a safe working environment.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has limited supervisory responsibilities.

Compensation

$31.00 - $37.00 Hourly

  • Required: Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.

  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing schedules, priorities, and processes.
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
  • Knowledge of assigned work area manufacturing processes, tooling, techniques, and materials.

Education And Experience

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in a production / manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read, diagrams, charts, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with others both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be familiar with duties and requirement of each position assigned to the department.
  • Must be able to operate multiple different hand-tools.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

  • Manufacturing environment / shared workbench or workstations.
  • Frequent repetitive motion (rotating wrists, keyboarding, using small/large tools).
  • Frequent standing and/or sitting for long periods of time.
  • Frequent reaching with hands and arms; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Sometimes walking.
  • Occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds in accordance with KUAS General Safety Training guidelines.
