Team Lead

About the role

The Team Leader is responsible for supporting Store leadership, delivering Legendary Service, coaching Team Members, and owning assigned sales-floor presentation areas. Team Leaders are expected to be top selling Team Members and have clear ownership of Power Panels, Clipstrips, Endcaps, Clothing recovery, and assigned BOPIS/OMNI support based on store needs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance; work scheduled shifts with flexibility for varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as dictated by business needs
• Uphold and promote a safe and productive work environment by following and enforcing policies and procedures
• Deliver Legendary Service and reinforce Leading with Legendary behaviors through Customer engagement, Team Member coaching, and accountability for execution
• Use A+ Coaching to celebrate and develop Team Members, improve selling behaviors, and reinforce consistent operating standards
• Model selling behaviors as one of the top selling Team Members in the store
• Own Power Panel execution, maintenance, replenishment, signing, and recovery
• Own Clipstrip execution, maintenance, replenishment, signing, and recovery
• Own Endcap execution, maintenance, signing, and recovery
• Own full weekly Clothing Department recovery, including assigned standards and follow-up
• Support BOPIS/OMNI execution, including picking, staging, Customer handoff, and follow-up as assigned
• Lead assigned Team Members during shifts, including task delegation, follow-up, service expectations, and safe work practices
• Support front-end, sales-floor, recovery, and Customer engagement routines as assigned by the Store Manager or Sales Manager
• Support Store readiness by owning and maintaining Power Panels, Clipstrips, Endcaps, and Clothing
• Operate cash register/computer, forklift, and other equipment as needed; assist customers with loading purchases
• Complete all documentation associated with the above job duties accurately and timely
• Obtain license or certifications as needed by the business
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Experience & Education

• Retail experience and/or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge strongly preferred
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required; must be able to read, write, and count accurately regardless of education level

Physical Requirements

• Non-sedentary position requiring physical and mental stamina to move throughout the store and outdoor areas quickly and safely
• Move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the store
• Push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with proper material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jack)
• Occasionally lift or reach merchandise overhead
• Frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders
• Move throughout the store for an entire shift
• Safely access all areas of the store including selling floor, side lot, stock area, and register area
• Operate and use all equipment necessary to run a store (e.g., dolly, hand truck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register)
• Constantly operate store equipment such as computer, cash register, and other store equipment
• Read, write, and count accurately to complete all documentation
• Utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and customers
• Process information/merchandise through the point-of-sale system
• Handle and be in contact with birds/poultry
• Successfully complete training and certification to dispense propane
• Successfully complete all required training
• Travel as required in support of district needs
• Drive or operate a vehicle for business needs
• Successfully complete training and certification for various business needs

Working Conditions

• Favorable working environment, generally inside with moderate noise
• Indoor floors and outdoor lots are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.); lighting and temperature are adequate
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions
• Work shifts vary by store, generally no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours
• Promote a safe and productive work environment for all Team Members, customers, and vendors; train Team Members on appropriate application of policies and procedures

• Basic computer skills
• Ability to read, write, and count accurately
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict
• Ability to perform and execute principle responsibilities of Team Members
