About the role
As Team Lead you will provide front-line leadership to ensure Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Efficiency standards are met. You will keep value streams flowing by positioning personnel and product where needed.
Responsibilities
- Train and cross-train team members within the assigned Value Stream.
- Fill in for missing team members when required.
- Establish standard work and work sequence; hold operators accountable.
- Plan daily production and communicate it visually (e.g., day-by-hour charts).
- Understand and communicate customer tact times.
- Identify capacity constraints and adjust workforce to meet customer needs.
- Anticipate and eliminate problems that may affect team performance.
- Maintain 5S, cell audits, safety observations, team improvement board, and all visual management tools.
- Conduct daily/weekly audits (5S, product quality, system quality, process, ISO 9001, 2nd-level work cell, Kanban).
- Lead continuous improvement events within the designated team.
- Perform any other duties as required.
Requirements
- 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
- Welding and/or machinist experience strongly preferred.
- Associate degree in a technical discipline preferred; high school diploma acceptable.
- Must be able to perform all jobs in the department.
- Good knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Effective interpersonal, coaching, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Formal leadership training (completed or in progress).
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
- Competency with MRP/ERP and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proactive, positive approach to leading continuous improvement activities.
