Job Summary
This is a hands-on supervisor overseeing daily shift operations on the production floor. Work closely with machine operators and other staff to ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment, and will be responsible for securing the facility at the end of the shift.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
- Supervise machine operators and production staff to ensure smooth workflow and productivity.
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety regulations on the production floor.
- Monitor performance and provide coaching or corrective action as needed to maintain high standards.
- Coordinate shift changeovers and ensure accurate communication with 1st and 3rd shift leadership.
- Perform regular floor checks to verify that equipment is functioning properly and operators are following standard procedures.
- Assist in training new employees and cross-training current staff as needed.
- Respond to any equipment malfunctions or safety issues and escalate appropriately.
- Complete shift reports and ensure accurate documentation of production data.
- Lock and secure the facility at the end of the shift, including verifying all doors are locked, lights and machinery are turned off, and the building is safe and secure.
- Serve as the point of contact for any off-hours issues or emergencies that arise during the shift.
Nature and Scope
- Problems are typically difficult and/or high impact. Troubleshoots complex support or operational problems for junior-level associates.
- Under limited supervision, independently resolves issues and applies a variety of methods to develop customized solutions. May lead the daily operations of a department or team. Work typically involves infrequent review of output by a supervisor or direct customers of the process.
- Assists with supervisory duties but does not have hiring/firing authority. Trains, delegates tasks, and reviews the work of junior-level associates.
Work Environment
- Typically located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
- Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment that may be heavy (50+ pounds) or awkward.
Education and Experience
Technical certification or associate degree may be required in some areas. Generally 7+ years of experience in area of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- 1+ years of supervisory or lead experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Familiarity with CNC machinery and production workflows.
