About the role
Join DICK’S Sporting Goods as a Team Captain of On Field Operations and lead execution across the sales floor. You’ll ensure strong merchandising, pricing, and athlete experience while coaching teammates, managing priorities, and delivering a consistent, athlete-first shopping experience. This role empowers you to make a real difference by fostering energy, precision, and teamwork on every shift.
Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding athlete experiences by anticipating needs and providing clear, accurate, and knowledgeable information about products and assortment.
- Uphold company merchandising and presentation standards, including floor sets, signage, price changes, inventory presentation, and replenishment.
- Promote and lead company programs such as customer loyalty participation, warranty sales, and private label credit card enrollment.
- Collaborate with Store Manager (SM) and Assistant Store Manager (ASM) to develop 30-60-90 day plans supporting business priorities for assigned department(s).
- Establish and execute operational plans related to staffing, hiring, merchandising sets, and financial goals within budget.
- Adjust plans as needed using independent judgment to ensure effectiveness and uninterrupted operations.
- Act as Head Coach when sole leader in the building, overseeing opening/closing procedures, Front End, Cash Office functions, and teammate supervision.
- Communicate departmental goals and assign workloads based on skill levels to maximize efficiency.
- Monitor progress against plans, pivot as needed, and develop schedules to meet athlete traffic demands while balancing payroll and financial goals.
- Build and lead a strong team by sourcing, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and retaining direct reports.
- Provide coaching, feedback, development, recognition, and motivation throughout the teammate lifecycle, including performance management and promotional recommendations.
- Hold teammates accountable for compliance with policies, procedures, and performance expectations, including termination recommendations.
- Create an inclusive store environment where teammates and athletes are treated with respect.
- Adhere to and enforce safety, loss prevention, and standard operating procedures, as well as external laws/guidelines.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of experience.
- Previous retail or customer-facing experience required.
- Previous people leadership experience preferred.
