Essential Functions/Duties
- Deliver instruction in both immersion (in-person) and digital immersion (online) formats for undergraduate and master’s classes
- Contribute to curriculum updating and integration of effective teaching pedagogies
- Serve on internal and external committees
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree required in oceanography, marine biology, marine conservation, or another appropriate field by the time of appointment
- Evidence of at least one year of college- or university-level teaching experience in oceanography, marine biology, marine conservation, or a closely related field
Desired Qualifications (All Ranks)
- Ph.D. in oceanography or an appropriate field
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering teaching in immersion (in-person) and online formats using learning management systems and instructional technologies
- Evidence of strong commitment to teaching excellence and student success, including asynchronous online teaching, lectures, effective assessments, and other classroom activities
- Potential for the candidate’s teaching and mentoring activities to foster the values of ASU as reflected in the ASU Charter
- Experience supervising students and teaching assistants
- Scholarship or professional experience in the field of ocean science
