About the role

The Teaching Fellow SEE - Online will guide students through the sustainable energy systems course, emphasizing problem-solving over memorization. They will engage, encourage, and excite students while ensuring they understand the course material and can apply it effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Be present and available during the entire course, including daily synchronous 3-hour sessions, coordinating with the teaching team, grading student submissions, checking messages, and holding study sessions.
  • Review course materials and complete the online training program before the first day of the course.
  • Work with the instructor to develop a sense of community and ensure students are engaged and excited about the course.
  • Assist students remotely during various course activities, monitor discussion boards, and respond to student messages within 24 hours.
  • Create supplementary videos if needed to clarify lab setups or address any instructional gaps.
  • Aid instructors in providing timely graded assignments and detailed feedback, ensuring grades are posted promptly to the learning management system.
  • Ensure adherence to child safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math Discipline.
  • Three plus years of experience as a high school teacher in a STEM discipline.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in engineering preferred.
  • Excellent classroom management skills.
  • Knowledge of Algebra II and Trigonometry.
  • Knowledge of Physics.
  • Familiarity with Canvas or similar Learning Management Systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.
  • Proficiency with Zoom or similar video conferencing software.
