About the Role

This full-time, temporary contract position provides hands-on clinical supervision and support to students in a healthcare facility, community agency, or laboratory setting. The role requires regular travel to clinical sites and offers a dynamic schedule with flexible hours, playing a critical part in guiding students through their practical training and ensuring a high-quality clinical learning experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides and coordinates clinical teaching activities in hospital/clinical settings, including student assignments, supervision, and evaluations.
• Participates in skill lab demonstrations, practice, and testing of students.
• Assists students through observational and participative experiences to apply nursing theory, the nursing process, and techniques in clinical settings.
• Coordinates student clinical experiences with the facility’s nursing staff.
• Maintains professional working relationships with community and clinical sites by attending in-service training, updating policies and procedures, and providing student lists to clinical agencies.
• Uses evidence-based practices in the clinical setting.
• Provides regular, accurate, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance.
• Plans and conducts student conferences.
• Engages and nurtures students in and beyond the classroom.
• Works with staff to implement college policies, objectives, and functions in accordance with college philosophy and procedures.
• Collaborates with the program manager to plan clinical and lab experiences, evaluation tools, schedules, and computer orientations at clinical sites (requires travel).
• Contributes to a collegial and collaborative work environment.
• Participates in professional growth opportunities, including the SSC Faculty Institute for Teaching and Learning.
• Discusses instructional or related matters with the course coordinator and program manager.
• Performs other relevant tasks, such as ordering and maintaining supplies, participating in discipline-related student activities (e.g., Brain Bowl).

Requirements

• Master’s in nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
• Minimum of two years of nursing experience in an acute care facility.
• Licensure to practice Nursing as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or eligibility for Florida RN Licensure.
• Current CPR certification.
• Additional qualifications may be required by clinical agencies (e.g., PPD, FIT test, drug/alcohol screening).
• Demonstrated understanding of the learning-centered approach to teaching.
• Computer and Internet skills.

Work Environment & Special Considerations

• Work in classroom, lab, and clinical environments, including hospitals, long-term care facilities, and community agencies.
• Regular travel to clinical sites is required.
• Candidates receiving an offer of employment must undergo a drug/alcohol test before beginning work. Failure to pass or refusal to submit to testing will disqualify the candidate.
• Finalists and recommended candidates may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64 and Seminole State College policies.

Pay & Schedule

This is a temporary full-time non-bargaining faculty position with a standard contract length of 228 days. Other contract lengths may be available depending on department needs. The position is not eligible for a continuing contract or Veteran’s preference.
