Teaching Assistant Professor - Finance
9-month, renewable non-tenure track instructional position starting 8/23/2027. About the Department
The Department of Finance is part of the College of Business Administration (CBA) at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse. The CBA includes six academic departments and the Small Business Development Center, serving over 3,000 students across eight majors, seven minors, and the UW System’s online MBA consortium. The college is fully accredited by AACSB International and recognized for high-quality faculty, programs, and strong regional and global partnerships. A robust Assurance of Learning program regularly evaluates undergraduate and graduate outcomes to support continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in finance or financial planning.
- Maintain currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment.
- Evaluate students’ work, assess student outcomes, and provide regular, substantive feedback.
- Maintain appropriate records and hold office hours.
- Maintain an active, ongoing program of scholarship appropriate to the discipline.
- Advise students on academic and career direction within the field of study.
- Contribute to the development of teaching and learning scholarly work, including publications and presentations.
- Develop and design curriculum and instructional materials relevant to courses of instruction.
- Collaborate with department faculty and staff to develop teaching strategies relevant to the discipline.
- Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and/or professional organizations.
- May supervise student employees involved in the development or delivery of instruction.
- Other duties as assigned by the department chair or dean.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in a field appropriate to the needs of the department, or significant progress toward a doctorate degree, or, in rare circumstances, post-baccalaureate certification or licensure, or a baccalaureate plus experience, as established appropriate for the teaching position.
- Evidence of the ability to be an effective instructor.
- Evidence of clear and effective communication skills.

- Demonstrated excellence in teaching in higher education.
- Master’s Degree or above in finance or financial planning.
