Required Teaching Assistant Duties

• Provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher.
• Ensure a safe, orderly environment conducive to teaching and learning.
• Implement specialized instruction to students as needed.
• Collaborate with colleagues and assist teachers to meet student learning needs.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with stakeholders.
• Aid in maintaining record keeping.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Promote equity and culturally responsive practices to create inclusive environments.

Job Qualifications

• Hold NYS Teaching Assistant certification.
• Must comply with New York State Education Department requirements for teaching assistants.

Essential Elements

• Specialized knowledge and/or experience in the field and/or trade subject may be required.
• Successful completion of specialized training and/or safety certifications may be required depending on the course.
