The Opportunity
The Teacher Assistant supports classroom instruction within one of YouthBuild’s workforce development departments, Healthcare, Culinary or Building Trades, by assisting instructors in developing engaging, hands-on learning experiences for young adults ages 17-21. This role provides individualized and small-group skill-building support, helps prepare and maintain classroom materials and equipment, and contributes to a safe, inclusive, and professional learning environment.

- A High School Diploma or equivalent, a Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree, preferred.
What You’ll Do
- Support classroom instruction in one of three workforce development departments (Healthcare, Building Trades, or Culinary) by assisting with hands-on learning activities, projects and skill-building exercises.
- Provide individualized and small-group support to students ages 17-21, reinforcing lessons, clarifying instructions, and encouraging active participation.
- Collaborate closely with the instructor on record to ensure consistent instructional support across two cohorts of students.
- Aid in preparing, organizing, and maintaining classroom materials, tools, and equipment to create a safe, efficient, and engaging learning environment.
- Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment by modeling professional behavior, addressing disruptions appropriately, and supporting a respective, inclusive environment.
- Monitor student progress during classroom activities, offering constructive feedback and reporting observations to the classroom instructors.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning sessions with teachers and other program staff.
- Provide mentorship to a cohort of 2-3 students, offering consistent academic and personal support to help them stay on track toward meeting graduation requirements, as needed.

Salary Range: New YouthBuild staff can expect a starting salary of $45,000. During the application process, applicants will have the opportunity to discuss our employee total rewards package and additional benefits.
